The signature is still part of the practice of a full application. And that applies not only to the cover letter but especially to your resume. The deeper meaning: With your good name you confirm the correctness of the information given. This applies to the content and the chronology. Your signature is not relevant to employment law – but it is a serious gesture and helps to build mutual trust.
Of course, you would like to shine with the attribute “diligent” when writing your application! But don’t overdo it! You are guaranteed not to get hard work if you sign each CV page individually. On the contrary, that would be too much of a good thing. It is entirely sufficient if you only sign your signature once at the end of the entire CV.
It is of course entirely in the eye of the beholder whether a missing signature on the résumé constitutes a criterion. It is clear that if you convince in all respects of the rest of the application, a missing signature will probably not play a major role. But if your application is full of flaws, it can be interpreted as a further point of criticism if the signature is missing.
What does a valid signature look like?
Everyone has their own signature with characteristic features. In fact, the readability of your signature will decrease over the course of your life, especially if you have to sign a lot every day. Often there is only a strange abbreviation left but still has a high recognition value. Such a scribble is no longer really legible. It does not matter anyway.
Whatever your signature now looks like: sign your application as usual. Forget tips like “sign legibly” or “sign as big as two lines of the previous letter”. This is all nonsense, of course, no one should change the signature. Why too?

Sign in your usual lettering without pretending to be wrong and ignore tips that require you to study a new signature variant especially for your application that meets certain criteria.
